My
name is Travis Gorkin and this website serves as a portfolio of my work
in computer graphics. I am currently a student at the University
of Pennsylvania working towards my Masters of Science in
Computer Graphics and Game Technology (CGGT). This Masters
program is a specialization within the Computer and Information Science
department at Penn. The program combines the study of graphics and
animation technologies with courses in computer science, fine
arts, interactive media design, and product development. I expect
to graduate in August 2009 and am currently looking for a job as a
software engineer or technical director working on video games or
animated feature films.
My primary interests revolve around simulation and animation of physical phenomena such as fluid, fire, cloth, deformation, and fracture. My education and industry experience has given me a solid background in the fields of physics, computer science, graphics, and software engineering. I earned a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University where I took many specialized physics courses such as fluid mechanics, dynamics, and robotics. I then spent three years in industry working as a Software Engineer where I developed my skills in programming and software development. My current studies in the CGGT program have focused on computer graphics and animation, while also exposing me to the artistic tools and processes used in the field of computer graphics.
